How well do you know your ideal customer?

The clearer you understand your customer and know how your customer makes decisions, why they make those decisions and what that means to you, makes your job a whole lot easier.

Decisions become so much easier because you can cater specifically for your ideal client. A win for them and a win for you.

Below are 4 key market areas and what they mean. Find out information in each of these areas and you will start to connect with your customers on a whole new level.

1. Demographics

Demographics look at the basics of WHO your customer is. Things like:

Gender
Age
Income
Education
Life Stage
Status

You will find much of this information within your Google Analytics and social media accounts.

2. Psychographics

Psychographics looks at all the juicy stuff like:

Values
Attitudes
Personality
Hobbies & Interests
Opinions & Concerns
Lifestyle

This is where you can really get to know your customer on a personal level.

Once you understand your customer in this way… friends for life!

You can obtain this information by simply asking! Use a survey tool like www.surveymonkey.com to create a simple survey you can then email out to your clients.
(If you need a hand with step, I would be happy to help).

3. Geographic

Depending on where you offer your products/services, this could be super exciting or super ‘meh’. Still, important!

Country
City
Language
Climate
Population
Density

4. Behavioural

Again, Google Analytics can let you know where your existing customers are coming from.

Another juicy one. Knowing these aspects of your ideal customer will help you serve them best:

Intent
Usage
Engagement
Buyer Stage
Frequency
Benefits

Knowing why your customer is purchasing from you, how often and why, provides you with absolute gold when it comes to creating new products, and/or creating your marketing campaign.

Once again, Survey Monkey can help you survey your customers, or even do a series of social media posts and ask your customers questions, remember, people love to engage!

Key Take Away:

Your website and social media accounts can offer you a wealth of information about your customers.

Ensuring your website is set up with Google Analytics and is SEO optimised will give you the statistics and information you need to make decisions in your business that will offer greater connection and service to your customers.

If you would like an audit of your existing website, or discuss how you can learn more about your customers, send me a message, let’s connect.
